Phyllis Green has cared for public lands throughout a federal service career that spanned 41 years, including 18 years at Isle Royale and 22 years in the US Forest Service. While at Isle Royale, she dealt with ecosystem issues related to a dwindling wolf population, spearheaded efforts to bring sustainable solar power to the remote island park, combatted aquatic invasive species in Lake Superior by developing treatment technology for ballasted ships, upgraded visitor facilities and moved forward with planning to preserve historic structures and wilderness. A frequent collaborator with NPLSF when she was a superintendent, she joined the board in 2021.Â
